Baby Shower DIY

You don’t always get the joy of meeting the actual baby that a baby shower is being held for–but this Saturday friends and family gathered to meet and welcome my niece, Sophia, at her baby shower. She came to us a little over two months early, born on March 17. Back in early March we were gathering up ideas and were in the beginning stages of planning the details for an April baby shower. The date then needed to be pushed out to July and here we are today! She is so loved and cared for by so many already!

This baby shower was planned by her Aunt and Grandma from her daddy’s side, her mommy and myself. We each pitched in our time to pick out and put together the DIY portions of the party. Aunt and Grandma did a majority of the heavy lifting when it came to planning all the details. They are true pros at this party planning stuff–all the details came together so nicely and everyone had an amazing time! I wish I took more photos but I was busy helping with the games, cleaning up throughout the day, helped serve cake and spent lots of time holding Sophia!

Baby Girl Diaper Cake |
Diaper cake made my Sophia’s Tia (aunt) Stephanie.
Guests Sign Baby Picture |
Guests signed Sophia’s picture, a keepsake to hang up and cherish.
DIY Baby Shower Center Pieces |
Vases were purchased at the Dollar Tree, pink and purple glitter butterflies at a small local craft store and two shades of pink gerbera daisies at a local florist. My sister used a hot glue gun to attach one butterfly on each vase.
Baby Shower Game Pacifier Necklaces |
Pink bead necklaces purchased through Oriental Trading and pink plastic pacifiers at a small local craft store. We used clear fishing wire to tie each pacifier. They were used for a game: Guests could not say “Sophia” or “Baby”. If you caught someone saying it you “stole” their necklace. The person with the most at the end won a prize.
Diaper Motorcycle |
A gift from a guest was this fun ‘Diaper Motorcycle’! The wheels are diapers and the handle bars were topped with baby socks. In the center was a bottle.
Baby Shower Tables |
Tables alternated with pink and purple table cloths tied down with balloon ribbon and sprinkled with baby shower themed confetti. Pop up tent covers kept everyone comfortable in the shade.
Baby Shower Cake from Royal Bakery |
This cake was purchased at Royal Bakery in Ventura, CA. One of the best bakeries in Ventura! The cake was amazing with a layer of strawberries in the middle.
