Why I Took My Husband’s Last Name

Sometimes, I feel really inspired and organized and I write out a whole list of things to write on my blog. Then there are days where I push that list aside and just write about something brewing in my mind. Taking my husband’s last name is something I thought about for a long time, and even though it seems common and normal I’m so happy I made the decision to take his last name. A few weeks after being married, fresh from our honeymoon we stopped by a very close friend’s house. Our friend’s parents were home and they congratulated…

Lake Tahoe Honeymoon

When trying to settle on a honeymoon destination there were few different ideas we thought about. First, a cruise seemed like a good idea. Then a road trip seemed fun. To Utah! To Colorado! To Canada! Finally, we decided that a mini-road trip to Lake Tahoe would be our best bet. We love the outdoors but still wanted some luxury accommodations and didn’t have a lot of money to spend. Lake Tahoe seemed to fit all those requirements and it’s a place I’d never been to and Kyle never visited during the summer. We were able to enjoy the outdoors…

Some Things I Learned About Weddings

In writing this post I don’t want to come off as mean, bitchy or ungrateful. Let’s face it–wedding planning can be super stressful and a lot to manage. Aside from the fun parts of trying on dresses, tasting cakes and looking at flowers there are difficult parts of planning as well. For me the most difficult part was the guest list. This caused the most stress, pain and worry in the whole process! I’m writing this post now because we are so close to Valentine’s Day and a lot of people get engaged around that time. This might help future…

Bridesmaid Gift DIY: Custom Wine Glass

Custom wine glasses, complete with wine glass charms were the last item I included in my bridesmaid’s thank you gift bags. I again employed some help from Martha Stewart, utilizing the Martha Stewart brand glass etching cream and adhesive stencils like I did when I made the votive candle holders and memorial candle holder. I also added some glitter to the bottom of the glasses with Martha Stewart paint. I did the glass etching just the same as with my other two glass etching projects. Clean the glass, apply stencils, dab generous amounts of cream, let sit, rinse off and…

Bridesmaid Gift DIY: Votive Candle Holder

The thank you gifts I put together for my bridesmaids included three pieces. Although the items they received were similar I made sure to give each special attention to make the gifts as unique as possible. I posted earlier about the MiA Bath and Body products I customized for them here, they received a full set of bath products with a custom fragrance designed specially for each individual. I thought a great addition to that would be a nice candle holder to light when they are getting their beautification and relaxation on! Just like when I created our Memorial Candle…

Wedding Photos

I’m excited to finally share some of our wedding pictures here on the blog! I still plan on sharing a few more wedding crafts, those posts are in the works. Our wedding was on August 4 at the Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center – Buenaventura Golf Club. Our fabulous photographer, David Brand, and his assistant took lots of beautiful and fun photos that really captured the wonderful moments of the day. If you are in Southern California looking for a wedding photographer I definitely recommend David. Please visit his website here and his Facebook page here. He gives great direction,…

Memorial Candle Wedding DIY

Unfortunately some of our grandparents were no longer with us at the time of our wedding but we wanted to honor them since they meant so much to us in our lives. I decided to create a memorial candle. I found many examples on Pinterest and Etsy but none of the things I saw online really stuck with me. I made a trip to Michael’s and found some supplies to create something a little different for our memorial candle. Using a plain glass candle holder, Martha Stewart Glass Etching Cream, Martha Stewart Adhesive Stencils plus some ribbon, glass glue and…

Wedding Count Down

Hi everyone! I haven’t updated this blog in a little while but I have been super busy with work and last minute wedding details. Just wanted to check in here to let you all know I have many wedding related posts planned. They will go up after the honeymoon. I just don’t want to reveal too many details before hand. Let’s just take a moment to realize something. We’re getting married in FIVE DAYS! I’m excited and nervous! I have everything I need, picked up my dress over the weekend and all my accessories are set. My venue is amazing…

Bridal Body Update 2

Something finally clicked. It started in April. I started making salads for lunch and taking my dog for long walks. She needed to lose weight and I needed to lose weight. Then the Tone It Up Bikini Series started so I began following the workouts and changed my eating habits even more. I set my alarm an hour earlier and I workout in the morning now. At night I hit the gym to spend some time sweating on the elliptical. Guess what. My jeans fit again! Not only do they button, but they don’t squeeze me and I can wear…

Wedding Updates

It’s been quite a while since I mentioned anything about my wedding here. The wedding is coming soon, a little less than four months to go! I’ve read on many different wedding forums and websites that it is not polite to discuss wedding details with people who are not invited, especially on the internet. I’ve read that it might lead to people to thinking they are invited, it spoils surprises for the guests and solicits unwanted opinions–plus many other reasons. I just can’t hold back anymore though! We’ve picked out so many of the big details like venue, dress, tux,…
