Daily Blogging

Today’s prompt is: Tell us what you’ve learned so far about daily blogging.

Since I got a late start on NaBloPoMo I haven’t really learned anything yet! I did participate in a blog challenge earlier this year and I found it to be very helpful in clearing out the cob webs in my head. I sometimes get stuck on this blog with topics to write about. Since this is just a very general “lifestyle” blog I feel like I don’t have a real specific angle to work with. I don’t want this to become a “dear diary” type of blog where I just confess everything on my mind. I know that sometimes co-workers might see this blog and maybe other professional peers since it’s connected to my LinkedIn account and Twitter.

I constantly struggle with how much I want to reveal about myself, if I want to talk about the past or even current issues in my life. Not everything is going swell all the time but…I don’t want to air my dirty laundry or my family’s dirty laundry either. So sometimes I feel like this blog lacks personality and is too dry and boring.

I guess I’ll end it there for today. Please, if you are reading this leave me some comment love! How do you feel about revealing personal details online? Sometimes it’s good to open up, other times it’s not. Do you have any advice or suggestions?

  1. I write about stuff I probably shouldn’t, like that time I farted in bootcamp. BUT, The Double Chin Diary aims to be an unconventional weight loss blog… and hey, farts and fitness sometimes go hand in hand. My rule of thumb is if it’s something I couldn’t rationalize or simply explain in an interview, I won’t write it 😀

    1. That’s a good point! I think I’m going to start journaling and then see what I can take from there to start posting about. I need to become comfortable with letting some personality show through on here!
