I’m lucky that the place I work at is not a super strict be-in-at-8 a.m.-sharp kind of place. I set my alarm to go off at 7:45 a.m. hit snooze at LEAST once then get up, shower, get ready and feed the pets. I’m usually in the office around 9ish in the morning.
My job is fun, sometimes stressful, but mainly lots of creativity and fun happens. I have an awesome boss, our department boss is awesome and the people on my team are awesome. I feel very lucky to work in a place like this! I’ve experienced some pretty crappy and/or boring jobs in fast food, retail, customer service and data entry related. Coming from a work background like that the place that I work at now is pretty freakin amazing. (And I’m not just saying this because this is on the internet and my bosses or co-workers might read this, I actually mean it!) I am a social media and web copywriter so in a nutshell I spend my day on social media sites interacting with people and coming up with new content and strategies related to the brands I work on.
I’m off work around 5:30-6ish at night and I usually head straight home. I change my clothes then I take my pug out for a short walk and give some lovings to my cat. Then we figure out what we want to do for dinner. This all depends on if we went to the grocery store recently, if Kyle has to go to class or the amount of motivation we have for cooking. Lately I’ve been in charge of making the grocery list and cooking since Kyle is on a strict study schedule. He’s an electrical engineering major and his classes are VERY demanding. Studying IS his job.
Once dinner is out of the way I spend the rest of the night doing whatever I want. Kyle spends most nights studying so I find quiet things to occupy myself. Freelance work, blogging, wedding planning, reading, watching Netflix with earbuds on, painting my nails, messing with my iphone, cleaning up the apartment, working out (sometimes), prep my lunch for the next day, running errands (although I save errands mostly for weekends)–stuff like that occupies my evening. Usually before bed I read until I get sleepy.
If I lived closer to my family and friends in Ventura County I would probably do a lot more fun and interesting things during the week, but this is the life I have right now. It’s just me and Kyle with our pets living a quiet life in the Valley.
