When Has Shouting at a Woman From a Car Ever Worked?

When is the last time a man successfully lured a woman over to his car by whistling or shouting? I recently shared this image I found on Facebook via the Everyday Feminism page and it reminded me that I wanted to cover this topic here on the blog. I can remember being cat called as early as age 12 — while walking across the street with my mother and younger sister. The person was either targeting my mom, me or all three of us. Disturbing. Honestly, I don’t think the men who do this are extending a marriage proposal as…

Wedding Photos

I’m excited to finally share some of our wedding pictures here on the blog! I still plan on sharing a few more wedding crafts, those posts are in the works. Our wedding was on August 4 at the Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center – Buenaventura Golf Club. Our fabulous photographer, David Brand, and his assistant took lots of beautiful and fun photos that really captured the wonderful moments of the day. If you are in Southern California looking for a wedding photographer I definitely recommend David. Please visit his website here and his Facebook page here. He gives great direction,…

This Is Not A Drill

My dog started barking. I heard a commotion outside. What’s that smell? I sat up. Rushed down the stairs. Is that the sound of glass breaking? What is that smell? Burned plastic? I looked through the peep hole. Beeping sounds. I peered through the blinds. Orange flashes of light. “Fire! Fire!” a man shouted from outside. “Kyle get up! Get up! Get the cat! Get me a bra! The apartment is on fire!” I slipped on my sneakers and harnessed my dog. I pulled the kennel out from the closet. The heavy bottle of bleach almost fell. He tossed a…

Rainbow St. Patricks Day 1st Birthday Party

We celebrated my niece’s first birthday last month with a Rainbow/St. Patrick’s Day theme. Her birthday is on St. Patrick’s Day and my sister and brother-in-law threw a spectacular bash with lots of activities for the kiddos and plenty of food and drink for the grown-ups. Party games for the kids included: Pin the clover on the Leprechaun – A magnetic leprechaun set assembled on the fridge and kids tried to get the clover onto his hat, while blindfolded of course! The kid who got it the closest won a prize. Clover Walk – Just like a Cake Walk, kids…

Home Alone

The prompt for today is “What do you do when you’re home all alone?” — Honestly I don’t think I really do anything incredibly different than when Kyle is home. I guess this would be different if I had kids and I only occasionally had “me” time. However, for now we’re kid-free and live a pretty relaxed lifestyle. The only thing I might do differently is play music I specifically like very loudly and sing along. I’m pretty much completely myself when Kyle is home. I break out into silly made up songs, talk in funny voices, have conversations with…

Awesome

Today’s blog challenge post is to write 10 things that make me awesome. I don’t really want to do a whole post talking about what an awesome person I think I am, it’s just doesn’t feel right! Instead I’m going to write 10 different awesome people. 1. Kyle is awesome because he is caring, honest, thoughtful, respectful, easy going, funny, silly and lovable. He’s always willing to listen and is just such a peaceful and loving guy. 2. My sister Marina is awesome because she is funny, a loving mother and sister, super creative and artistic. 3. My sister Jessica…

Life List

I’ve never actually written down a life list or bucket list before so this prompt is perfect to get those things I’ve always thought about down on “paper.” 1. Visit all 50 states. 2. Start a family. 3. Be a business owner, a social media/PR consulting firm. 4. Buy a house. 5. Own a vacation home. 6. Visit as many different countries as I can! 7. Start a scholarship fund. 8. Go backpacking in the wilderness. Just a backpack of stuff and that’s it! 9. Have a herd of pugs. That would probably consist of five pugs. 10. Go on…

Review: Not Your Mother’s She’s a Tease Volumizing Hair Spray

If you follow any of my social media pages you might notice I’ve been mentioning this thing called Influenster and some products they sent me to test out. Influenster is a program for people who are very active on social media, membership is invitation only. Being a blogger or YouTuber isn’t required but doesn’t hurt! I was invited by a fellow blogger and did some research before diving in. It is not for everyone, there are mandatory tasks to complete otherwise you are disqualified from receiving products. Companies contact Influenster to get their product in the hands of people who…

Movies

Today’s prompt is: Movies you never get sick of watching. This is a tough one for me because I don’t like watching movies over and over again. I like to let a good amount of time pass by before re-watching something. Here are some movies I’ve watched more than once and wouldn’t mind watching again: 1. Grease and Grease 2 – I actually watched Grease 2 before knowing Grease existed. My mom somehow came upon a copy of Grease 2, it ended up staying in our home and it joined our Disney movie rotation. I’ve memorized every single song, most…

Hey There

I haven’t written in a few weeks. I’ve come to a point where I don’t really feel I have anything interesting or worthwhile to say–or the things I want to say I feel shouldn’t be blasted publicly. I realize that each thing I post here is open to anyone in the world to see. I’m becoming more self-conscious about what I post. I also know that people don’t really care about the day to day things I do or my average thoughts. Who cares that I’m an average sized girl trying to drop a few pounds so her jeans fit…
