Confident Girl

The prompt for today is: “Describe an outfit that makes you feel good. (It can be from any period of your life.) Double points if you post a picture of yourself in the outfit.” In high school I really wanted to be on the short flags team. I tried out to be on the team freshman year and didn’t make so I tried out again the following year and made the team. It’s just the kind of person I am–I never give up on my goals! Even though I felt awkward and ugly during those years I always felt my…

Blog Post I Didn’t Publish

Tell us about a blog post that you didn’t publish. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever started a blog post and then didn’t hit publish. I usually spend a lot of time thinking about what I want to write before sitting down to write. I also read, reread, and reread it again to proofread and edit my posts. Sometimes I remove a sentence or two or even entire paragraphs. Sometimes I rewrite things to make better sense. There are ideas that I’ve never written down. I’m hoping that over time I’ll be able to open up a bit more. I…

Bad Habits

If you could quit one bad habit instantly without difficulty, which would it be? No human is absolutely perfect, we all have bad habits we’d like to break. A bad habit I would like to break is touching my hair. It’s a weird thing that I do subconsciously and I’m not completely sure when it manifested. Sometimes I catch myself at my desk twisting a piece of hair from the back of my head. Or my bangs. Tugging the strands, sliding my fingers through. Finding odd bits that are textured instead of smooth. Then I realize what I’m doing and…

Night Owl

Are you a morning person or a night owl? If you read my post from yesterday then you already know the answer to this–I’m a night owl! I often find myself staying up late with ideas and thoughts whirling around in my head. I feel so productive at night! Being a night owl doesn’t mean I like going out to be with people. No, it means my mind is active and I’m ready to create. I found it to be extremely difficult when I worked at offices with a strict start time. Especially when I needed to come in extra…

Refrigerator

The prompt for today is: Name five things inside your refrigerator right now and how you feel about them. Since we recently moved into a home where my sister, sister-in-law and nephew live we decided to get a mini fridge for our area of the house. We do keep groceries in the main fridge but for smaller things like beverages and snacks we keep them in our fridge just for easy access. 1. Bottled water – how do I feel about that? I feel like…sometimes we get thirsty or have friends over and want to offer a drink without having…

Trapped In A Movie

Continuing on with National Blog Posting Month, the prompt for today is: If you had to be trapped inside a movie for 5 days, which movie would you pick? In the past I wrote about my favorite movies but I wouldn’t want to necessarily be STUCK in any of them for five whole days. I would want to be stuck inside a movie with magic and happiness. Where something wonderful happens. I’m a big fan of Disney movies so this is a tough choice! Maybe I would be stuck inside Bambi. In the beautiful forest, roaming around with Thumper, Bambi…

Daily Blogging

Today’s prompt is: Tell us what you’ve learned so far about daily blogging. Since I got a late start on NaBloPoMo I haven’t really learned anything yet! I did participate in a blog challenge earlier this year and I found it to be very helpful in clearing out the cob webs in my head. I sometimes get stuck on this blog with topics to write about. Since this is just a very general “lifestyle” blog I feel like I don’t have a real specific angle to work with. I don’t want this to become a “dear diary” type of blog…

National Blog Posting Month

It’s National Blog Posting Month and that means the November writing challenge is here! Many bloggers now do writing challenges throughout the year but November is special since it’s NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month). I’m a little late on this but better late than never right? To learn more about the NaBloPoMo go here. Now, I’ll get started with my first prompt! If you had to switch your first name, what name would you choose and why? From time to time I will use a fake name when I’m out at a bar with friends. It can be fun! If…

Location

The prompt for today is “Describe your location” Anyone who knows me well will know that I highly dislike my current location. If you’ve been reading this blog for the past few months you might have already read about my disdain for the area. Most people I know from Ventura County will always choose VC over the San Fernando Valley any day. When a new construction project starts in VC you might hear people mutter, “UGH They’re trying to get us to look like LA..” We like our open skies, close knit communities, easy to access beaches and traffic-light roads.…

Embarrassing Moment

As a clumsy person I experience more than my fair share of embarrassing moments! Just recently for my niece’s birthday I tried to help make cupcakes and cookies and totally flubbed on that! I reached for an egg and instantly broke the shell, getting yolk all over the eggs inside the bin. For the cookies, I didn’t roll them out thin enough and they came out looking more like lily pads (said Sophia’s grandpa) and less like clovers. *facepalm* Those fail cookies never saw the light of day! There was short flags camp in high school where I gave my…
